Why does my eyeshadow look blotchy?
I recently bought a make up brush set, it was pretty expensive but I got it on sale. The brushes are really soft, and it consists of a Large eyeshadow brush, this one is REALLY soft, can I use this for blending? I have small lids and I use a smaller eyeshadow brush for eyeshadow application. I’m starting trying out darker colors, since I usually use natural colors, and I watch videos on youtube and they do great! But mine always looks blotchy, do I just need practice? Or is something up with the brushes?
Make sure your brushes are clean first of all. If they are oily or dirty, they’ll drag. Use a good eyeshadow base and layer your eyecolor so it doesn’t start off blotchy. My eyelids are smaller too and use a smaller sized fluffy blending brush. Just remember to add color gradually and blend.
You’re right, it is about practice! I enjoy practicing and give myself “makeup days” to try new techniques. I go through a lot of cotton pads and eyemakeup remover, but it’s fun!
Before you apply the eyeshadow onto your eyelids blow on the brush or shake it to remove excess eyeshadow . Try applying a light touch first then keep on adding more and more . When you apply the eyeshadow make it a quick swipe on your eyelids , dont like press the brush too hard .
After putting eyeshadow on the brush, blow on it and tap it against the sink. That will give you smoother application.
Use eye primer before apply eyeshadow like Urban Decay primer potion at Sephora or Ulta, it’s $17
Several company’s make eye primer, which helps the shadow adhere better to the eye lid,I would try and purchase some,it really helps!
try an eyeprimer and it will probably come with practise like you sa
