What can I do to make my eyeshadow show up?
It seems like every time I apply my eyeshadow it looks good and then not long after you can’t even tell I put any on at all… it won’t stick. I can’t afford really nice brushes, so what’s better? The sponge-type ones or the ones that are more like paintbrushes?
I even tried using water to make it more vibrant and stay on/show up better, but it didn’t work…
There are no nice make-up stores here. We only have drugstores and a Wal-Mart. Do you know of any eyeshadow primers you can get at places like that? Using liquid foundation on your eyelids, just isn’t the same as the actual primers.
Otherwise what are some tricks that don’t involve a primer or is there anything I can add to liquid foundation to make a nice primer for my eyelids?
At the moment I use a brush set I got for Christmas (the paintbrush kind). It was about $20 for 6 of them with a case included and they’re form Wal-Mart so I’m guessing they’re not high quality… But I could get a 12 pack of the spongy eyeshadow applicator brushes for just over $2. Which do you think would work better?
**There are no stores like Sephora here and I can’t shop online!**
I use powder eyeshadows.

On the show what not to wear she always applies a loose powder before the eye shaddow to make it stick. The brushes are 100 times better than the sponges btw also! Oh and if you can only buy make up at Wal-mart steer clear of the really really cheap stuff cuz it hardly shows up anyways. It is better to invest the $10 and get something decent.
Try Mac’s Paintpot, http://www.maccosmetics.com
Urban Decay Primer Potion

good luck
well primer could do the trick. I know the e.l.f has an eye primer for $1 sometime syou can find them at target but if not you could always get that online its the same price. Loreal decrease is a drugstore primer that you can get from a drugstore around you. never use those songe tip applicator!! if you can’t afford a good eyeshadow brush just go to a craft store like michaels or ac moore and get a flat brush that you could apply your eyeshadow just the same way. Dont use a paint brush that has rely loose bristles because that won’t work at all. If you want your eyeshadow to stand out and have more vibrancy just wet your brush a little bit before using the eyeshadow
hope this helps
i always just use a white eyeliner penciel as a base and then apply the eye shadow it looks great i like avon white eyeliner penciels they are great amd about the brushes u can go to hobby lobby and they sell brushes that work as good as the expenise brushes
Well hun brushes will always give you a better look than sponges.
you can make a eyeshadow primer heres what you need:
liquid foundation
a Thick Lotion
concealer
eyeshadow you dont use anymore
now put some of the liquid foundation in a contaner or a cup. now add about the same amount of the thick lotion in it. now if you have a concealer stick. chop a little off and melt it in the microwave for about 15 seconds and stir it all togetehr. ifyou have a cream concealer just dig a little out and plop it on there. stir. now take a whie eyeshadow. or a tan one. and Crush it up and mix it well into there.(this is optional) now you have yourself a primer.
also at walmart or walgreens try purchasing loreal decrease. its a eyeshadow primer!
or go to http://www.eyeslipsface.com and check out there 1 dollar primer!

use the concealer sticks that you can buy to put under your eyes to hide dark circles….and also brushes are better then the sponges…
wat i do is i use my finger when my brush brakes which my finger works alott better then my brush
Brush type works better than sponge type in my opinion. The sponges are a pain, a lot of times they fall off the plastic stick, and they tend to absorb so much shadow rather than actually applying it. I always toss them when I buy a shadow that comes with one. It doesn’t have to be super high quality brushes, I have some cheap ones that work fine. I bought a lot of my eye make-up brushes from Michael’s art store (they were actual paint brushes, lol. If you do this try to get the small red sable hair brushes and not the rough bristled brushes because they wont work. Flat and angle as well as the writing brushes worked great for me.) I also don’t really use brushes much for blending, sometimes I don’t use them to apply either, I find I have better control if I just use my fingertip especially if I’m working with a cream shadow.
I never use an eyelid primer either, just regular foundation or concealer with a little bit of translucent powder over it. It sounds to me like you may just need a better quality eyeshadow, and you can get decent ones from Wal-Mart or drugstores, they all sell the L’Oreal HIP make-up which is high intensity pigments. They show up really well especially if you use a damp brush. Cheap eyeshadows don’t always show up good so its worth it to buy a more expensive one if you like the color, they will show up better and eyeshadows last a long time when they are good quality because you don’t have to use as much. I would try to look for the L’Oreal H.I.P. eyeshadows or powders to start with as you should be able to find them at any drugstores or Wal Marts.
It sounds like you need to use a primer. As far as drug stores go, I’m not really sure but L’Oreal De Crease is supposed to be good. I’m sure there are other brands, you just have to go and look. You can also just order online! Urban Decay is my favorite. I think using foundation should work if you don’t want to shell out the $, or concealer.
Using higher-quality eyeshadows also means that the color will last longer. Wal-Mart now (exclusively) carries Hard Candy which is a great line of eyeshadows!
The brush shouldn’t matter re: how long the eyeshadow lasts. The sponge-tips are great for blending, but the brushes will help you layer on more color.
I recommend checking out Hard Candy’s eyeshadows at Wal-Mart, and maybe ordering a base or a primer if you think you really need one.
I think L’Oreal has an eyeshadow primer, and if you can’t find that at Wal-Mart just use a little bit of liquid foundation (preferably a full-coverage b/c it is a thicker formula) on your eyelid. Just be sure to apply your eyeshadow on while the foundation is still damp.
well you can go to sephora.com an order if on line, they have very many different types of make-up brands. I use urban decay primer, it works well, urban decay eye shadow stays on a long time with out if but it makes it more vibrant. I use to use the clenique primer, but it didnt seam to work as well as thr urban decay one.
Also good eye shandow plays a HUGE part in the lasting time, stay away form cheep eye shadows, you may have to look a little harder and do on line shopping since you dont have good make up stores around you.
Sephora has good products like i said, they are a little more expensive, but it is defently worth it, if you go on their web sight look at the reviews, colors of the product, and what it does. I would stay away form the sephora brand eye shadows, they dont stay on long*like i said they have many different brands there*
So i hope this helped(:
Do you use powder eyeshadow or creme eyeshadow? Because powder eyeshadow tends to last longer than creme shadow. Also Wal-Mart usually sells this L’oreal primer that works pretty well. If you don’t want to use a primer. You can apply concealer on your lids before you apply your shadow to make it last longer. As for the way I apply it, I use both. But I prefer the ones that look like paint brushes. You don’t need really expensive brushes for your eyeshadow to apply really well. In fact the ones I use are the e.l.f. makeup brushes which I got from our local dollar general. Hope it helps
