How do you apply makeup to get the best “natural” look, and which type is the best and is cheapest? Tips?

I want to know how i can get that “natural look” without spending too much money/time and still look good. I am a bit sheltered and am pretty dumb when it comes to makeup so when you explain don’t use makeup words, use body parts like “cheekbones” or something like that. I have long dark brown hair that comes halfway down my shoulders. I have dark brown eyes, and I have pretty clear skin or what could be considered normal skin, It is oily in some places and get dry in some areas. My eyebrows are thicker and are dark brown. I cant wear eyeliner cause my mom says it makes you look like a corpse. I have a sort of pale olive/ ivory color skin but it isnt really dark but in some places blotchy. What are the best products to buy, where can I buy them and where/ what are the cheapest places to buy them. What is the best/cheapest products on the market? Hope you can help! PLEASE EXPLAIN THOUGHLY (you can even include wardrobe and hair ideas. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

What kind of skin care products and make-up would be best for my skin type?

I apologize in advance, this is looong:

My skin type: My skin gets oily in certain areas (mostly my forehead, around my nose, and chin), and it’s acne prone mostly due to stress and allergies. I don’t get a lot of white heads or black heads, I get those nasty bumps that are deep in the skin (usually one or two at a time), and take about a week to surface. They don’t look too bad since they can usually easily be hidden with concealer, but they hurt terribly. Since I’m naturally fair, any redness on my skin and scars are pretty noticeable.

What I’ve tried for skin care: You name it, I’ve probably tried it. I’ve been using mostly those 3 step kits, and I use them for several months before making my conclusion. I haven’t resorted to pills because I just don’t like having to remember to take medicine on a daily basis. Everything I have tried has irritated my skin pretty badly, except Proactiv. But all that did was strip my skin of any moisture. I’m using Olay right now to keep my skin moisturized. Luckily it doesn’t aggravate my acne. I ultimately want to get rid of (or at least fade) my acne scars (as well as scars from sparring), and obviously prevent acne so my face doesn’t hurt and I won’t have to worry about more scar prevention.

What I’ve tried for make-up: Probably anything you can get in Target or Wal-Mart. Right now I’m on Bare Minerals since my mom got me a starter kit. It’s not bad, but I want to try the matte powder before kicking it to the curb. The powders do a pretty good job at hiding imperfections and don’t clump up when I wear my glasses. My real problem is that even the lightest color isn’t light enough to match my fair skin just right. I’m sure it’s more visible to me than anyone else but I still don’t like it. The one thing I avoid like the plague is Cover Girl because it clogs my pores pretty badly.

What I was looking to try: I was interested in trying out Clinique’s skin care and make-up products; at least their make-up. No one I know uses Clinique, and I’m not too eager to rely on the webpage’s comments alone. I also saw a blog about Suki skin care products (sukiskincare.com) and there were photos posted of before and after results. The photos were not air brushed, and the women did have less acne, redness, and the scars were completely gone on a few of them. I’ve also heard that Skin Eternal Hyaluronic Serum is a good product, but I haven’t seen any well thought out reviews for it.

Sorry that was so long. What do you guys think I should try?
Karen, I will definitely try what you suggested! I’ve tried homemade skin care methods before, but saw no difference. Surprisingly, I haven’t read anything about castor oil and grape seed oil, despite knowing their benefits. I will try that, as well as the honey mask, as soon as I make my trip to the store!

What is the best type of make-up brush?

It’s about that time to get a new set so….I’m wondering what ya’lls opinion is on what brand that you have used or heard that is good to use. Also…is a foundation brush better to use rather than a sponge?

What shades of eye shadow or type of eye makeup should i wear?

I have very pale skin and light Platinum blonde hair and dark blue eyes. my skin can get very pink sometimes and so i can’t wear light colors but my hair and skin tones are too light for dark colors. What colors are best for me and what other kind of eye makeup could i wear that would work?

Makeup tips specifically for my type of hair and eyes please?
