Baby Shampoo is a cheaper alternative to commercial makeup brush cleansers and it works! It deep cleans your brushes with its gentle baby formula and leaves your brushes soft. You can condition your brushes with olive oil before washing them but I find that just using baby shampoo makes my brushes soft enough. If your brushes are really dirty, I suggest you pour baby shampoo on the palm of your hand and work the damp bristles in it. Lather it up like you would your hair. The method I use in the video preserves shampoo and some water ^_^ Typically, you should wash your makeup brushes once a week but I wash mine once a month because I own quite a few and only use each one a few times. =) You should wash your foundation, concealer, and eyeliner brush after every use because they contain moisture and accumulate bacteria faster than powder and eyeshadow brushes. Always remember to wash your brushes! Dirty brushes can harbour bacteria that can cause break outs on your face. =O Happy washing! FYI: I was assured these brushes are cruelty-free and that the animals are not harmed or killed to attain the hairs. However, if you don’t like this, please just buy synthetic brushes. This is a brush guide for those of you curious about what brushes to start off with it you are new to makeup. Keep in mind these are what work for me and I encourage you to find what works for you. All MAC brushes can be found at MAC stores, counters and online. Crown Brushes and Afterglow can be found online as well. The afterglow brushes were sent for consideration a while back, and I ended up using them regularly for my personal makeup application. The Crown brushes were provided for live demos which I taught for. This does not change my opinion of the products and chose these particular brushes because I believe the quality is very good. I purchased the MAC brushes on my own and have enjoyed their quality. They are very sturdy, and well-crafted brushes. I am not paid for this video and the purpose of this guide is to help my viewers become more familiar with the different types of brushes. I know buying brushes can be overwhelming and confusing but I hope this video helps to make the process a little less scary.

You don’t have to use expensive brushes to create fabulous makeup looks. Even though I own many MAC products – I do not have any MAC brushes! Nothing against them and not to say I won’t get any in the future but you have options! Enjoy!
