AMAZING Japanese Makeup Brushes: Hakuhodo

www.hakuhodousa.com (They ship worldwide) Check out the “Knowledge” section of their website that talks about the materials used, how to clean and care for the brushes, and the FAQ. Also check out the Company Outline and read their History – you will find out a lot more about Hakuhodo and see that they are a very reputable brush making company. FYI: I was assured these brushes are cruelty-free and that the animals are not harmed or killed to attain the hairs. However, if you don’t like this, please just buy synthetic brushes. If these brushes are too expensive for you, check out my other video “Cheap Brush Recommendations”. Prices: These brushes come in a wide variety of prices from affordable to very expensive. Many basic eye brushes are around and some very, very expensive brushes are close to 0. However, many of the prices are comparable to department store prices in Europe. Check out the different series, not all of them are expensive. Brushes shown in order of appearance: 1. Kokutan Finishing Brush LAG 2. S 103 Blush Brush 3. K002 Finishing Brush round and flat 4. This is a brush guide for those of you curious about what brushes to start off with it you are new to makeup. Keep in mind these are what work for me and I encourage you to find what works for you. All MAC brushes can be found at MAC stores, counters and online. Crown Brushes and Afterglow can be found online as well. The afterglow brushes were sent for consideration a while back, and I ended up using them regularly for my personal makeup application. The Crown brushes were provided for live demos which I taught for. This does not change my opinion of the products and chose these particular brushes because I believe the quality is very good. I purchased the MAC brushes on my own and have enjoyed their quality. They are very sturdy, and well-crafted brushes. I am not paid for this video and the purpose of this guide is to help my viewers become more familiar with the different types of brushes. I know buying brushes can be overwhelming and confusing but I hope this video helps to make the process a little less scary. ![]()

Would you please do a vid on how you do your manicure? Your nails are perfectly scuplted/shaped and love your hands.
omg a brush set 1000 !!! o.O
@MissChievous Thank you so much. I really wish i have the money to get those brushes. hehe maybe for the future
@0oXfenxiXo0 They are far superior in quality to be frank. But they have a higher price tag.
how is Hakuhodo compare to sigma brush? thanks
Holly cow!! I don’t care how good they are, there too expensive to buy or be use.
Dude those brushes are waaay to expensive! One of them is around 80 dollars!
They look beautiful, but I seriously question the company’s claim that no animals are harmed or killed to make them. Do they sit them down in a salon chair & give them a nice close shave & then send them on their way with a nice goat or squirrel snack?? I’m not a fanatic & do own some hair brushes myself. I just call into question the ethics of this company and their bs sounding claims. Really? Not ONE animal harmed?? Extremely unlikely……
on their website they recommend to wash the brushes only -2 times a month (O_O), otherwise , it could damage the hairs. It makes me disappointed. I wanted to buy BB ultra fine eye liner brush and I did notbecause I have read that one of their brushes was better but if it becomes bad with washing..I wash my brushes everytime I use them, specially eye liner brushes!
hi, do you think that the G535 eye brow brush could be used for eye liner? For people who aren’t confortable with lining their eyes?
Thanks.
NICE BRUSHES BUT TO DAM EXPENSIVE..LOL
Oooh. You got me hocked! One S142 on it’s way to me as we speak. Can’t wait! And to be honest, I also watched your Sigma video.. It’s so true. We really have to learn how to know the good from the bad, and after going through my brushes, I’ve had to toss out a few that were not pulling their weight. You know you have these brushes that you pass by every time you’re putting on make-up, but you don’t know exactly why.. Poor quality, low hair count and density. Now I know! Thank you!
yep very expensive…
You’re so very lucky to have gotten these brushes, they are THE best and also very expensive. I have good expensive brushes but I can’t afford these, well not now. Maybe some day. I can pay my electric bill for my whole house for what just one of these brushes costs.
is the s142 brush a mac 226 comparable?
yep- very expensive your complete set is over 500.00
I’m just starting out as a makeup artist as a side job (college student/ fine arts major) and I was wondering is it best to have a different set of brushes for the clients than you do for yourself’? And if so what do you recommend?! On a college student budget lol I can’t quite afford the hakuhodo brushes just yet (I’m saving though) however, I have been looking at a brush set by Sigma off Amazon and Pupa off and I would love your opinion! Thank you!!
do they kill animals?
JAPANESE MAKE GOOD SOOSHI TOO
@chtitmog my mum has the same levis jean for 17 years,i do have one for 3 years,and well yea jeans last longer!and i don’t know 20 dollars (16 euros) for a basic smudge brush seems like a lot to me.
@katsouela LOL! To each their own I guess! Jeans don’t last more than 4 years with me, but brushes will last me 15 or 20 years and I do my makeup everyday. (and not all their brushes retail at this price – you should take a look at the Basic series which is really affordable and of excellent quality too!)
@chtitmog 100 dollars for a brush?no thanks,i d rather,go and buy a Levi’s jean.
@anna63rubio i know
COULD YOU please tell us which Hakuhodo brush is cheaper but the same thant the gold one?

@AlyssaLovesMac you spelled all wrong…
The E.L.F Essentials eyeshadow brush looks almost exactly like the 239 flat shader brush from MAC…
Hi guys. Check out my channel for ant aging and skin care tips, very inexpensive and really works. I’m 56 and my son said I had to get my secrets out there. Great makeup looks good on clear healthy skin. Hope you check it out. Love to all!
@88QueenBee It’s from Crown – I have the exact same brush too. Crown is a large brush manufacturer and Coastal Scents is a retailer that resells Crown brushes. Most Coastal Scents brushes come from Crown.
isnt ur none MAC pencil brush from COASTAL SCENTS? I have the exact same brush and its from there! Yea, its from coastal scents, sorry
Also my favorite eye makeup brush is the 252, i used to sue the 239 and never gave much thought about the 252, now i have retired my 239..my 252 is just sooo much better for packing on color i love it to death can’t believe i didnt buy one sooner!
I have 4 mac 217 brushes, and all 4 are very different. 1 is very dense and fat and rounded. 1 is very soft, softer then the rest and is semi rounded and is more flat. 1 is extremely thin and flat with stiff bristles and has some wavy and splayed bristles( and is brand new just got form bloomingdales haven’t washed yet.) and last one is like flat thin like a liner brush almost except with very soft bristles..I think MAC should make them more even and equal for the price..
i think its actually good that she explained so throughly (srry for my english)and compared and dont find her annoying,just smart
@Glitterz66 I think you’ve replied to the wrong person, I love Julies videos.
@Dashyloulou
@Dashyloulou

if you don’t like the video, then don’t watch it! it’s up to you. some people actually like julie’s videos
my fav makeup brushes are the 217 and the 239 brushes! bye mac
can you please do a makeup tutorial on that makeup?????
check out mine HowTo: CLEAN YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES video
i love the sigma brushes don’t have mac brushes bc of the price but i love the sigma brushes and i hate the sonia kashuk blending brush eww it scratches your eye and doesnt blend well at all.
i love you lips…can you do a tutorial?
@DaBossLadyTee hope you don’t mind me answering this one
. A base or primer is not always a necessity, however using one will improve the wear and the colour of the shadow as it gives the eye shadow something to cling on to. You can buy bases in all different colours.A good one is urban decay primer potion. For the eye liner I would say but something smooth and creamy. take your time, all you need is practise. Try different methods and eye liners as not all suit everyone
hope this helped x
lol “This guy..” I like this video though
@cheeks904 crownbrush. com is their website i think.
Hair tutorial?! Please?!
I just got my Sigma “Make me cool (blue)” brushes. It includes 12 brushes, 4 face and 8 eye. All of the essentials at amazing quality!
@xosbst Thanks!! someone had given me false info :
@missstila if you brush is shedding, it might be because you haven’t washed your brush. to prevent shedding, i would reccomend washing your brush with either a mac brush cleanser, or your favorite conditioner under luke warm water, so your brush is softer and still gets clean. if this doesn’t help, feel free to contact me with anymore questions! this should work though because i wash my brushes with the brush cleanser and luke warm water, as well as conditioner when i run out. thanks!
